This year I decided it would be fun to join in The Red Barn Outdoor Market’s handmade swap. I saw all the fun stuff others were getting last year and decided that this year I just had to get in on it.
I decided to make my calendula salve as well as lavender & peppermint hard lotion bars. I had so much fun putting my gift together. The biggest challenge for me was designing the labels. Graphic design is not my strongest skill.
I think they turned out rather cute. I do think that if I ever decide to open an Etsy shop I will redesign them to look a little more professional.
Below are the pictures I took of everything I got in the mail. It was so fun every time I got a package in the mail.
This is a fun pin that was made from scrap material and a Dr Pepper can. It was a little big for my taste, but it made a cute Christmas decoration. You can see how I used it in the picture at the top of this post.
I love the way the red looks against my teal porch furniture.
I think this one is my favorite! I love reclaimed wood so this was perfect for me. I used it to decorate my mantel for Christmas.
My daughter saw this when I opened it and immediately asked if she could use it to decorate her room. Maybe I will get to use it next year. Isn’t it cute!
This gift has been a lot of fun for my girls. They have been getting out my good tea cups and having cups of tea in the evenings. It was really very good tea. The gift also came with these really cute felt coasters.
Thank you to all the ladies who lovingly made these for me. I am sure I will never meet you, but I am grateful for your talents.
I have not decided if I am going to join in again next year. While it was so much fun getting to plan and make things and then wait in anticipation for my gifts to come in the mail it was a lot of work.
One really great thing about this swap is that if you have a budding business this is a great way to get your products into peoples hands. This may be the reason I go ahead and join next November.
