Hi I’m Lorrie! I am so glad you stopped by Claire and Rose. I started this blog as a creative outlet for myself. I love anything that has to do with natural living, suburban homesteading, gardening, easy DIY, recipes, and ORGANIZING! My kids say I love to organize a bit too much. I tell them you can never be too organized. Although, after having 4 kids I have had to loosen up a bit, because let’s face it…kids are rarely clean and organized.
My goal for Claire and Rose is to help women live a more natural, beautiful and organized life all while living on a tight budget. I truly believe it can be done! Our family of 6 has been living on one income for 12 years. Some years are better then others, but I have had to learn how to budget and make things work. Even on one income we have not only survived, but thrived. I am often asked how we do it? My usual answer is “by the grace of God.” My God has never let me down. He has always been there for us even when times were very lean. I also tell them that a budget is a must! And you must stick to it. On top of that I use a lot of creativity.
I would love to have you follow along and let me show you how I have learned to be a homemaker on a budget, but still live as naturally as possible and create a beautiful home for my family.
This is seriously the best we could get of the family all together. Four littles do not always like to sit still and rarely look at the camera all at the same time.
Roger and I have been married for 15 years! It is hard to believe it has been that long! I love this man with all my heart and would not want to do life with anyone else. He is an English teacher at the high school in our small Kansas town and I am a homemaker turned part time ESL aide for our school district.
These 2 beauties are the inspiration for the name of this blog. I used both of their middle names to come up with Claire and Rose. My blog’s name really doesn’t tell my readers a lot about the purpose of my blog, but it has meaning to me and that is very important! These 2 have the sweetest hearts and are such a joy to mother.
Madison is our oldest and getting ready to start middle school next week. I am NOT ready, but she can’t wait. She is the typical oldest child. I love that she is such a great helper.
Charlotte is a spunky little thing. We often call her and her older brother the twins even thought they are 2 years apart. This little one can keep up with any boy while still keeping her princess tiara in place.
I always say I am so lucky to have the perfect combination of boys and girls. I can’t believe God blessed me with 2 of each! I love these 2 rambunctious boys so much. They definitely keep me on my toes. The big brother is Jack and our sweet little Gideon rounds out our family as the baby. Jack loves all things science and engineering and at the moment Gideon is in a Veggie Tales mode.
This is probably one of my favorite photos from our shoot this summer. I really think it captures what mothering is all about.
We attempted a fun photo with all the kids running in a circle around us. You can see how well that turned out! I promise Madison is in there somewhere behind her dad. For some reason the kids just could not figure out what we wanted the to do. It still made for some great memories.
In a pinterest world where everyone always puts up their best pictures I really felt I needed to add one from Easter 2015 that shows what life more often looks like! This is real, unposed LIFE. And this is what this blog is about. Real life and how to live it beautifully.
Thanks for stopping by Claire and Rose. I hope you come back often!
